History and vision

We want children and students give oportunity to study nature with:

• simple recyclable materials.
• inspiring instructions
• worldwide contacts

History

This project started in Peru at the “Instituto Superior Pedagógico Diego Thomson.” Initiated by Adri Moerdijk, working at the protestant High School as a missionary for the GZB. Later followed up by Harm Visscher working in Peru, whilst Adri was taking the experience to the Netherlands.

Helped by different sources of information (Handbook of Science teaching- UNESCO; SEEP-Nies Hanoi Vietnam & KWT Amsterdam The Netherlands) and the students of the Institute a simple box was developed in Peru: “The Ecolab”. Based on low cost and environmental friendly materials. Offering a maximum of different experiments with a minimum of materials.

In the Netherlands we integrated the materials in the curriculum of the school. Searching for connections with programs of internationalisation en technics.

We discovered another advantage of this materials: The agility of changing between practical work en theoretical work. Making it much easier to conect contexts with concepts.

Vision

The project has the objective to make experimental work accessible for students. Giving students the opportunity to wonder about the little things in nature. And stimulate the development of a critical attitude about fake news en reality.
